A Room Reveal for Celine & Milani: Spaces That Nurture Strength and Sisterhood

Meet Celine—a bright, brave 6-year-old whose strength and spirit have touched every one of us at Savvy Giving by Design.

In April 2023, Celine was diagnosed with WHO Grade 2 ependymoma, PFA—a rare and aggressive brain tumor. After undergoing emergency surgery and radiation, Celine was left with posterior fossa syndrome, requiring her to relearn everything from walking to speaking. Her rehabilitation journey has been long and difficult, but her determination has been nothing short of inspiring.

At home, Celine shares space with her sweet little sister Milani, who is almost two. Despite the many medical challenges Celine faces—including nighttime G-tube nutrition and limited mobility—she continues to be a light for her family and everyone around her.

We were honored to create not just one, but two very special rooms for this family. Our guest Designer Siena Italiano put in a lot of hours and love to these rooms to make them just perfect for the sisters.

Celine’s serene ocean-inspired room features soft blues, dreamy textures, and touches of marine life to bring comfort and calm. A cozy reading nook and adaptable desk space were designed to support both her recovery and creativity.

Milani’s room is bursting with warmth and whimsy. Earthy tones, soft floral accents, and playful bedding create the perfect space for a growing toddler to rest and explore—all just steps away from her big sister.

Designing these rooms was about more than paint colors or furniture—it was about building spaces where two sisters could heal, connect, and thrive. Celine’s room supports her physical needs while encouraging her independence and creativity. Milani’s room reflects her joyful energy and gives her a space all her own, even as she stays close to Celine.

The moment the girls saw their rooms for the first time was unforgettable. There were smiles, happy tears, and quiet awe as they took it all in.

As always, so thankful to our team of volunteers. It takes a village, and our team of volunteers are experts at all the things; from installation of shelving and art, to sorting and organizing clothing, picking up art and supplies, and any manual labor we can think of on the day. We LOVE our volunteers.
