What Install Day Actually Looks Like

Prep Time

Install week is not for the faint of heart (or the tired). The process leading up to Install Day requires (what feels like) endless prep. We review our process lists and our expediting reports. Our warehouse is prepped and informed, and our install kit is inspected and restocked. With everything from rug tape (to help those brand new rugs lay flat) to magic erasers, our rolling install kit is our go-to accessory on install day. Making sure our mini vacuum is fully charged and our goo gone is fully stocked helps the day run smoothly. Plus snacks …. An endless variety of high energy snacks are a must.

During Install

Our team gets to the jobsite first to prep for the unloading of furniture. We (painters) tape the floorplan to each room with dimensions and locations of all new furniture. This means that even the team members who weren’t personally the lead designer can help out with installing the furniture in it’s new home. When our movers arrive they prep the home, wrapping stairs and tricky corners with furniture padding and laying out cardboard travel rugs to protect brand new floors. The furniture comes off the truck in a seemingly never ending supply of cardboard, boxes and crates. It’s like Christmas Day, except the boxes are all affixed with industrial strength staples and it’s usually unbearably hot (on our Florida installs), so hydration is a must. The sea of boxes begins to grow in the staging area and our vision starts to come to life.

Furniture Placement

Our warehouse team places the rugs first, with careful direction from our team. There’s nothing worse at this stage, of getting the entire room placed and realizing the rug has to be tweaked. (Just ask the designer who has to break the news to the moving crew). Once the furniture is placed and adjusted the final design details can be placed.

Styling

One of our favorite parts, the styling begins in earnest once the furniture has been laid out. We unwrap and layout every accessory and begin to curate shelves, coffee tables, end tables and art. Our art installers are expertly placing each piece of art under the watchful eye of the lead designer and their team. We hide cords artfully and add furniture stoppers to everything. Accessories, books, florals and client keepsakes are arranged to work harmoniously in their new space.

Photo Shoots

One of the best (and longest) days! We love bringing in all the extra touches for photo shoot day. Fresh florals and unique props help us style the space for photography and tell the story of a home. We love our photography team and their willingness to do what it takes to get the shot. The design details are what makes the photography truly sing, so our shopping list includes everything imaginable to make a freshly finished house look like home. From shampoo and towels to the perfect bowl of fruit or a giant plate of freshly baked muffins, we mix it up every time to make every project truly unique.

Reveal

The client reveal is our favorite day. It’s when our fully furnished and full service interior design projects get to have their moment. Our homeowners come into the home to see their vision realized and discover the design details up close and personal, for the first time. There are tears and laughter and a lot of joyful exclamations. We LOVE client reveal days!
